Stephen C. Murphy, ’87 B.A.
Mr. Murphy is vice president for finance and chief financial officer of the university.
In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the controller’s office, financial planning and analysis, procurement, sponsored projects financial administration, financial systems support, and finance operations. Previously, he served as associate vice president for finance, associate vice president for financial planning and analysis, and associate vice president for business operations. He joined the university in 2001 as the director of finance and administration for the office of cooperative research. Prior to working for Yale, he served in various finance and business development positions in the private sector, including finance director for Wilson Sporting Goods Europe, based in Munich; director of business development for Häagen-Dazs Asia/Pacific, based in Hong Kong; and as the senior financial executive at several technology companies. He began his career as a management consultant at Marakon Associates. At Yale he serves on the Fiduciary Committee for Retirement Investments, the Carbon Offsets Oversight Committee, and the board of trustees of Yale New Haven Hospital. He is a former member of the board of trustees of the Foote School and of St. Thomas More Chapel and Center at Yale. Mr. Murphy holds a B.A. in economics from Yale.
